Joel and Julia's ADVENT CAROLNDAR New York Performances

“Joel and Julia’s ADVENT CAROLNDAR” arrives at Town Hall as a rock/pop stage event that treats the calendar as both structure and subject, moving through a sequence of songs and scenes tied to the season’s daily countdown. The piece leans on contemporary pop craft rather than nostalgia, using tight arrangements and spoken interludes to mark time and shifting moods. If this is its first New York run, Town Hall places it in a civic lineage of holiday programming that often reflects the city back to itself. Its most interesting move is how it frames celebration as routine, not spectacle.
