Grey Gardens New York Performances

*Grey Gardens* turns the Maysles brothers’ 1970s documentary into a stage musical, tracing Edith “Big Edie” Beale and her daughter “Little Edie” from society ease to a narrowed life inside their decaying East Hampton house. The story holds on the mother–daughter bond as both shelter and trap, with the outside world receding and the rules of the home taking over. The show has a particular New York resonance, rooted in the Kennedy-adjacent Beales and first reaching Broadway in 2006. Now presented live at Symphony Space with featured performers including Ani DiFranco, Tony Trischka, Abby Jimenez, Annabelle Gurwitch, and Caro Claire Burke.
