The Music of Tom Verlaine New York Performances

At Mercury Lounge, Tom Verlaine traces the music that runs from Television’s downtown years to his solo work, centering on his songs and spare, searching guitar lines. The set moves through post-punk and art-rock structures that helped define New York’s late-1970s club ecology, when the Bowery and Lower East Side became a testing ground for new rock forms. Heard now in a small room, the material reads less like nostalgia than a study in tension, space, and restraint. Verlaine performs the program himself, keeping the focus on craft over story.
