Pop's & Papi's New York Performances

“Pop’s & Papi’s” arrives at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts as a live work that traces how family stories travel across neighborhoods, languages, and generations in New York City. Featured performer Saleh anchors the piece through firsthand narration and observed detail, keeping the focus on what gets inherited and what gets rewritten. In a city built on migration and reinvention, its cultural significance lies in treating memory as something contested, not sentimental. One clear strength is its refusal to tidy the past into a single, easy lesson.
