What’s Ms. Pinney Doing Here? New York Performances

At the International Center of Photography, *What’s Ms. Pinney Doing Here?* places Melissa Ann Pinney’s practice in a live, on-site context, treating the museum as both subject and setting. The work reads as an inquiry into how images are made, circulated, and interpreted in New York’s cultural machinery, where photography is never just visual evidence. If there is a local significance, it is ICP itself: a city institution that has shaped how generations in NYC learn to look. The most pointed effect is its refusal to separate artist from archive.
