Between Us: Artists in Conversation: Haim Steinbach and Karl Haendel New York Performances

At The Jewish Museum, *Between Us: Artists in Conversation* brings Haim Steinbach and Karl Haendel into a public exchange about how images and objects circulate in contemporary life. Steinbach, the Israeli-American artist based in New York, is known for arranging ordinary consumer goods into precise shelf-mounted “Displays” that treat selection and placement as content. Haendel, based in Los Angeles and represented by Vielmetter Los Angeles and Wentrup Gall, works with appropriation and drawing to test what authorship looks like now. The pairing reads as a small cultural document of two coasts in dialogue, with New York’s display culture as an unspoken third participant.
