The Danish Girl New York Performances

At the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, *The Danish Girl in Concert* reframes the story behind the 2015 film inspired by the lives of painters Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener, among the earliest public figures associated with gender-affirming surgery. Breaking the Binary Theater approaches the material through classical music and staged performance rather than cinema. The format treats the narrative less as biography than as a case study in how art, intimacy, and public scrutiny shape identity. Its place in a free Lincoln Center series situates the work within New York’s ongoing civic conversation about trans representation.
