THE JAZMINES: a rage play – and for legal reasons, a parody New York Performances

Now at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, *THE JAZMINES: a rage play – and for legal reasons, a parody* frames itself as theater with music and an argument. It tracks what brown artists run into when they try to enter the theater industrial complex, and the trade-offs demanded along the way. The “parody” label functions less as a joke than as a legal and aesthetic shield, keeping the critique pointed while the form stays nimble. As an NYC presentation, it lands in a city where access and representation are constantly negotiated onstage and off.
