A Motown Christmas New York Performances

“A Motown Christmas” at Westbury Music Fair frames familiar holiday standards through the rhythmic language of Motown-era pop and soul, delivered in a rock/pop concert format. The show leans on tight ensemble work, call-and-response vocals, and arrangements that foreground groove over seasonal sentimentality. While it doesn’t have a singular NYC premiere history in the way a Broadway title might, it speaks to the region’s long relationship with touring revues and the New York metro area’s appetite for legacy American pop on winter calendars. Its best moments treat nostalgia as craft, not decoration.
