Woke (World of Woke) New York Performances

Now playing live at the Milton G. Bassin Performing Arts Center, *Woke (World of Woke)* is a ballet that treats contemporary social language as choreography, moving between satire and civic ritual. Featured performers include Miguel Anggelo, Santiago Cruz, the Queens College Choral Society, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and the Queens Symphony Orchestra, placing voice, chorus, and orchestral color inside the dance. In New York City, the title lands inside ongoing debates about identity and public speech, and the work leans into that friction rather than resolving it. One clear strength is how the mixed musical forces make the stage feel like a cross-section of the city.
