52nd Street Theme

0 upcoming performances in New York

“52nd Street Theme” nods to the Midtown blocks that once served as jazz’s late-night corridor, when clubs along West 52nd Street helped define New York’s modern sound. The title also traces a line to Thelonious Monk’s repertoire, later reimagined as a large-ensemble centerpiece in Joe Lovano’s Grammy-recognized project. At Dizzy’s Club, Brilliant Corners joins Helen Sung and DeWitt Fleming Jr. for a live reading that treats the theme as both map and memory. The material’s tight architecture leaves room for risk without losing the street-grid logic beneath it.
