Sauve la vie (qui peut): A Reconstruction New York Performances

Now playing at L’Alliance New York, *Sauve la vie (qui peut): A Reconstruction* revisits Jean‑Luc Godard’s 1980 film through a process of reassembly, treating the movie less as a fixed object than as material to be examined. The reconstruction draws attention to how labor, intimacy, and daily routine are shaped by the camera’s cuts and interruptions. In New York, where Godard’s work has long been argued over in repertory houses and classrooms, this screening reads like a footnote made public. Its clearest critical point is that reconstruction can function as criticism without adding a single new scene.
