The Men Who Laugh New York Performances

The Men Who Laugh is a rotating live program at Freddy’s Bar in Brooklyn, built around open mics and small-stage performance traditions that have long shaped New York City nightlife. The calendar moves between Mimsey’s Open Mic and karaoke on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, Humans Against Music, comedy open mics on Mondays and Wednesdays, and “So What Happened Was…,” a monthly storytelling series on third Mondays after the comedy show, alongside specials like Highland Shatner’s St. Pat’s Show. There is no known NYC premiere history attached; its significance is local and ongoing. The throughline is access, where the room’s shifting lineup becomes the point.
