SUFFS New York Performances

Shaina Taub’s *SUFFS* is a rock/pop musical that traces the U.S. women’s suffrage campaign through the organizing, strategy fights, and public pressure that led to the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920. In New York City, it reads as both local history and civic record, shaped by the city’s long role as a staging ground for protest and politics. At Groupmuse NYC’s Town Hall, the program places Taub alongside Carole King, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Jessie Montgomery, linking voting-rights history to a wider lineage of women’s voices. Its sharpest move is to treat reform as collective work rather than individual heroism.
