Last Thursday’s Burlesque in the Back New York Performances

Last Thursday’s Burlesque in the Back is a live burlesque night staged at Freddy’s Bar in Brooklyn, part of a venue calendar that also holds Mimsey’s Open Mic (music, comedy, poetry), karaoke on 1st and 3rd Sundays, Humans Against Music, comedy open mics on Mondays and Wednesdays, and the monthly storytelling series “So What Happened Was…”. The show sits in New York’s long-running tradition of back-room performance, where nightlife doubles as an informal arts space. It matters because it treats burlesque less as spectacle than as community practice, shaped by whoever is in the room. The most telling detail is the context: an event like this survives by sharing a stage with everything else.
