About Danspace Project
Danspace Project is a New York City presenter and commissioning platform for contemporary dance and related performance, based in Manhattan’s East Village. Founded in 1974, it stages work inside St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery, an active parish whose sanctuary is regularly adapted for performances. The organization is known for curatorial series that place artists in dialogue with the field’s history, alongside new works and research-driven projects. The setting keeps the focus on bodies, sound, and time rather than theatrical machinery.
