About The Chocolate Factory
The Chocolate Factory is a performance space in Long Island City, Queens, devoted primarily to contemporary dance and experimental theater. It opened in 2004 in a converted industrial building and includes a flexible black-box room that can be configured for audiences of roughly 100. The venue has been closely associated with work-in-process showings, artist residencies, and small-scale productions that favor proximity between performers and viewers. Its programming tends to document how new work is made, not just how it is presented.
