Mark Sherman brings his multi-instrumental background on vibraphone, piano and drums and his training in classical percussion to the Mark Sherman Quartet at Smalls Jazz Club. He leads the group with an arranger’s attention to balance, using the vibraphone as both melodic voice and timekeeper and keeping improvisation tethered to clear form in the close-room tradition.
