Their work favors character-driven scenes built through clear, collective choices rather than large production elements.
About Sketch MAUDE NIGHT: Fridge Magnet & First Wife
Sketch MAUDE NIGHT: Fridge Magnet & First Wife plays at UCB Theatre as part of Maude Night, the long-running New York showcase that has helped define the city’s pipeline for new sketch ensembles. Fridge Magnet and First Wife share the bill, drawing on UCB’s house style: premise-forward scenes, group timing, and the routine pressure of weekly performance. The comedy leans on character choices and ensemble mechanics rather than star turns. One clear virtue is its discipline, which lets small ideas hold their shape under live-room conditions.
