MC Lyte
About This Event
MC Lyte, born Lana Michele Moorer, is a New York–rooted rapper whose late-1980s work helped define East Coast hip-hop. She broke a barrier with Lyte as a Rock (1988), among the first full-length solo statements by a woman in rap, and early singles like “10% Dis” and “Paper Thin” established her direct delivery and lyrical precision. Onstage at Brooklyn Bowl she favors that measured delivery over spectacle.
