Hyundai Card First Look:R. Buckminster Fuller

At MoMA Exhibitions, *Hyundai Card First Look: R. Buckminster Fuller* frames the designer and systems thinker through works on paper, models, and documentary material. Fuller’s proposals for lightweight structures and global-scale problem solving are treated as part engineering history, part cultural artifact, with New York as a natural setting given his long ties to the city’s design and architecture circles. The show suggests how his optimism about technology shaped postwar American ideas of progress. It also shows where that optimism strained against political and social realities.
