    About This Event

Lucy Sante, the Belgian‑born American writer, critic and artist who frequently contributes to The New York Review of Books, presents Something in the Air and In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni at L'Alliance New York. Her books, from Low Life: Lures and Snares of Old New York to the memoir I Heard Her Call My Name, have established a practice grounded in urban history and personal narrative, and this live presentation brings that inquiry into a performative setting.

    About Something in the Air

"Something in the Air" is the debut single by British rock band Thunderclap Newman, written by Speedy Keen who also provided lead vocals. It was a No. 1 single for three weeks in the UK Singles Chart in July 1969. The song has been used for films, television and advertisements, and has been covered by several artists. The track was also included on the band's only album release Hollywood Dream, over a year later.
