Now on view at the Brooklyn Museum, *Art of Manga* looks at manga as an artistic and cultural form, tracing how drawn panels, printing, and serialized storytelling shaped a global visual language. The exhibition situates manga within Japan’s modern history and shows how artists use it to stage everyday life, fantasy, and social critique. In New York, where manga has long circulated through bookstores, libraries, and fan communities, the museum setting marks a shift in how the medium is publicly framed. One clear takeaway is how manga’s mass production does not diminish its formal invention; it often drives it.
