The Death of Madame Mystery

Now playing at House of Yes, *The Death of Madame Mystery* arrives in New York as a live, on-the-floor performance that treats intrigue as a social ritual. The piece follows the aftermath of a death and the stories that gather around it, moving between cabaret gesture, noir framing, and audience proximity. It lands in a city with a long tradition of downtown murder ballads and immersive theater, where spectators are often made complicit. One clear effect is how it uses performance to show that “truth” is usually a group negotiation.
