About This Event
Lady Shani appears as a visiting presenter at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts for PEP’s Y Palmas Album Release Party. With a modest recorded footprint and a practice rooted in live collaboration, she favors directness and ensemble interplay; in this context the set functions as both performance and a public marker of the new release.
About Y Palmas
Other “Y Palmas” arrives in New York as a live program at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts, featuring Lady Shani among the performers. Framed as a cultural event rather than a spectacle, it leans on rhythm, voice, and stage presence to trace how identity is carried through music and movement. If this is its NYC premiere, it reads as part of the city’s ongoing record of diaspora work finding a public platform. The piece suggests that tradition survives less through preservation than through revision.
