The Shameless Old Lady and La Chinoise

At L’Alliance New York, *The Shameless Old Lady* arrives as a dance work shaped by the French cultural circuit in the city, presented here as a live performance event. The piece centers an older woman who refuses the role assigned to her, using movement to test the boundaries between dignity, desire, and social surveillance. In a dance landscape that often sidelines aging bodies, it insists on visibility as subject rather than symbol. Its most pointed move is how plainly it treats “shamelessness” as a social label, not a personal failing.
