About This Event
Pianist Hélio Alves leads his trio at The Django. Associated with Brazilian jazz and the freer edges of the tradition, Alves’s playing balances rhythmic drive with open-ended improvisation, drawing on Brazilian forms without fixing them into set arrangements; he often appears in New York with drummer Kiku Freitas and collaborators Marcio Philomena and Gili Lopes.
