About This Event
Cirque Kalabanté presents Wow (World of Words) at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts. The ensemble brings circus technique into concert-hall settings, emphasizing rigorous physical training, group timing, strength-based movement and percussion-forward rhythm; their work favors momentum and ensemble craft over theatrical spectacle, a practice honed through shared bills with artists and ensembles across Queens.
About Come Wakaforé: Wow (World of Words)
Come Wakaforé: Wow (World of Words) arrives at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts as a live performance that treats language as both subject and material. Cirque Kalabanté anchors the evening with circus-based movement that reads like a physical glossary, where gesture carries meaning before words do. The work sits in a New York context where multilingual life is ordinary, and it asks what gets lost or gained when stories move between tongues. One clear strength is its refusal to separate verbal speech from embodied communication.
