About This Event
Tenor Legacy, a jazz project heard at Dizzy’s Club, maps the tenor saxophone’s line of influence and frames each selection as a portrait with brief historical context. For this engagement the group is joined by veteran reedman Lew Tabackin; the ensemble’s emphasis on clear phrasing rather than display makes the set as much a study in lineage as a performance.
About the Artist
Tenor Legacy
Tenor Legacy is a jazz project heard in New York City at Dizzy’s Club, built around the idea of tracing the tenor saxophone’s line of influence. The name tips its hat to Benny Golson’s late-1990s concept album that mapped a set of tunes to major tenor voices.
