Flip Phone Presents: Disney Villains Drag Brunch

“The Lord of the Rings” at City Winery NYC is a Rock/Pop live set that borrows its name from Tolkien’s world, better known to many through Peter Jackson’s early‑2000s film trilogy. In New York, those films arrived as mainstream events that helped normalize epic fantasy in the city’s multiplexes and repertory calendars. This “other” Lord of the Rings uses the title as a frame rather than a script, translating familiar mythic themes into contemporary song. The choice invites comparison, and it also shows how franchise memory becomes material for live performance.
