DJ Island, Claire Orzuno, Jarita x La Onda
About This Event
At Alphaville, DJ Island, Claire Orzuno and Jarita x La Onda appear in a lineup that invokes Mexico’s 1960s La Onda movement. La Onda was a multidisciplinary countercultural wave that challenged PRI-era norms on artistic freedom, gender, ecology and consciousness; its social critique provides the historical frame for the evening.
About the Artist
La Onda
La Onda was a multidisciplinary artistic movement created in Mexico by artists and intellectuals as part of the worldwide waves of the counterculture of the 1960s and the avant-garde. Pejoratively called as Literatura de la Onda by Margo Glantz in the beginning, the movement quickly grew and included other art forms with its followers called "onderos", "macizos" or "jipitecas".
