    Gibby Haynes and the Butthole Surfers open an August residency at Union Pool. Formed in San Antonio in 1981 by Haynes and guitarist Paul Leary, the band has kept a core lineup—Haynes, Leary and drummer King Coffey—since 1983; their history also includes second drummer Teresa Nervosa and bassist Jeff Pinkus, while Haynes has worked as a radio host, painter and author.
