Peni Candra Rini brings her Jiwa Kala to National Sawdust in a trio with New York multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily and drummer Andy McGraw, presented by World Music Institute. Peni Candra Rini’s Jiwa Kala is a performance project led by the Indonesian vocalist and composer, presented in New York City by World Music Institute at National Sawdust. For this appearance, she works in a trio with New York–based multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily and percussionist Andy McGraw, drawing on rock and pop frameworks while opening them to spare, textural interplay.
