Stretch Armstrong, a third‑wave ska band formed in Provo, Utah in 1990, performs at Brooklyn Bowl. Scott Van Wagenen remained the band’s principal constant, and by 1994 the lineup settled around Darren Hutchison (bass), Dave Thomas (drums), Mike South (guitar), Ryan Ridges (keyboard) and saxophonists Dan Nelson, Brian Rowley and Sterling Acomb. Their ska draws on punk, jazz and circus music, and their shows were marked by energetic dancing and moshing.
