Charles Lloyd Quartet
About This Event
At NJPAC, saxophonist Charles Lloyd—an NEA Jazz Master, Memphis Music Hall of Fame inductee and Chevalier des Arts et Lettres—performs with the Charles Lloyd Quartet and the related Sky Quartet. Both ensembles draw on free jazz, hard bop and modern jazz traditions and favor open forms and patient group interplay over overt display. The program reflects repertory and group approaches associated with Lloyd’s long career.

Charles Lloyd Quartet
NEA Jazz Master, Charles Lloyd, has never sounded better. The depth of his expression reflects a lifetime of experience. A Memphis Music Hall of Fame inductee, and recipient of the prestigious Chevalier des Arts et Lettre from the French Minister of culture, Lloyd has a legendary history in the music world, and could certainly be in a position to slow down and rest on his laurels.
