Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons - Picnic Concerts @ Central Park
About This Event
Groupmuse NYC presents a picnic performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in Central Park. Vivaldi, born March 4, 1678 in Venice and the eldest of nine children of Giovanni Battista Vivaldi, is the composer of these concertos. Their prominence in the violin repertory and clear melodic lines have made them a frequent choice for outdoor ensembles, placing Baroque repertoire in public space.
About The Four Seasons(concerto)
The Four Seasons is a group of four violin concerti by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, each of which gives musical expression to a season of the year. These were composed around 1718–1723, when Vivaldi was the court chapel master in Mantua. They were published in 1725 in Amsterdam in what was at the time the Dutch Republic, together with eight additional concerti, as Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione.
