    About This Event

At Bar Bayeux the house band BK Strays presents a set of Billy Strayhorn compositions with Will Bernard, Steve Cardenas, Dan Loomis and Diego Voglino. Bernard's blend of traditional and contemporary approaches, Cardenas's patient, atmospheric guitar work and Voglino's late-night free-improv sensibility steer familiar Strayhorn material toward open forms and spontaneous interplay.

    About Strayhorn

At Bar Bayeux, the house band BK Strays takes up the book of Billy Strayhorn, a composer whose work helped define the modern jazz repertoire in New York’s big-band era. Guitarists Will Bernard and Steve Cardenas join the group, alongside Dan Loomis on bass and Diego Voglino on drums, moving between jazz structure and freer motion. Strayhorn’s songs arrive here as material for re-interpretation rather than preservation. One result is a reminder that these compositions were built to travel, and to change with the room.
