Mozart’s *Don Giovanni*, with a libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte, frames the Don Juan legend as a two-act *dramma giocoso*, where social comedy, moral reckoning, and a supernatural intruder share the same stage. First heard in Prague in 1787, it has long held a secure place in New York’s opera ecology, turning up in major houses and smaller companies that test its shifting tone. Now at The Center at West Park, Amore Opera presents a work whose bright surfaces never fully conceal its bleak arithmetic of desire and consequence.
