About This Event

Sara Serpa closes her residency week at The Stone at The New School with the largest ensemble of the series: a nine-piece NONET comprising her voice, a string quartet, a vocal trio, and modular synthesizer. Serpa, a Lisbon-born vocalist based in New York and associated with vocal jazz and free improvisation, has recorded and collaborated widely on the downtown scene. The expanded instrumentation gives this final program a more composed, textural character than the earlier duo and quartet sets of the week.
