Hendrik Meurkens Quintet

Hendrik Meurkens is a Dutch jazz musician known for working on both harmonica and vibraphone, instruments he brings into a modern jazz language. In New York City he appears at Smalls Jazz Club, where he leads the Hendrik Meurkens Quintet in sets that foreground ensemble interplay and clean phrasing.

"Harmonica maestro Hendrik Meurkens and bassist Gabriel Espinosa share top billing, but the music seems to mark this as a Meurkens date. While each man contributes four songs to the program, Meurkens' harmonica is the guiding voice.
