About Visible Cloaks

Visible Cloaks is the Portland, Oregon–based electronic duo of Spencer Doran and Ryan Carlile. It began in 2010 as Doran’s solo study of Japanese new‑age, ambient, and rare‑groove recordings, then became a two‑person project when Carlile joined in 2014. Their music sits between ambient, drone, and experimental forms, using texture and tone as structure rather than conventional songcraft. In New York City, they bring this approach to a live setting at Public Records, where detail tends to outweigh spectacle.
