Ulysses Owens, Jr. Big Band: Jazz Ensemble in New York

About Ulysses Owens, Jr. Big Band

Ulysses Owens, Jr. Big Band is a New York City-facing jazz ensemble led by drummer and bandleader Ulysses Owens Jr., built around the classic big band format and its modern extensions. The group appears in rooms like Dizzy’s Club, where tight section writing and open solo space can share the same set. Their repertoire leans into swing-era architecture while accommodating contemporary rhythm and phrasing. The performances tend to favor precision and ensemble balance over spectacle.
