About The Jayhawks

The Jayhawks are a Twin Cities–born group that helped define the overlap between alt-country, Americana, and country rock from the mid-1980s onward. Centered on the songwriting and harmonies of Gary Louris and, at key points, Mark Olson, the band has moved through several lineups while continuing to record and tour across four decades. Their catalog runs from early roots-rock staples to later albums including *Paging Mr. Proust*, *Back Roads and Abandoned Motels*, and *XOXO*. Onstage at New York City’s Town Hall, they tend toward ensemble interplay and plainspoken melody over spectacle.
