The Angelica Sanchez Nonet: Jazz Ensemble in New York

About The Angelica Sanchez Nonet

The Angelica Sanchez Nonet is a nine-piece jazz ensemble led by pianist and composer Angelica Sanchez, heard in New York City at The Jazz Gallery. Sanchez is also known for her quartet work with Tony Malaby, Drew Gress, and Tom Rainey, and for collaborations with Rob Mazurek’s Exploding Star Orchestra. In the nonet format, she uses expanded instrumentation to test density, space, and shifting ensemble color. The music favors structure that stays porous, leaving room for risk and collective response.
