About Steve Turré

Steve Turré is a jazz trombonist, composer, and arranger whose career has moved between jazz, rock, and Latin jazz in clubs, studios, and screen work. He is closely identified with the use of seashells as instruments, folding their rough timbres into small-group settings without treating them as novelty. In New York City appearances, including at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts, he has shared the bandstand with alto saxophonist Vincent Herring and the Vincent Herring Quintet. His playing favors direct phrasing and color over spectacle.
