Skerik is a Seattle-raised American saxophonist who works on tenor and baritone, often routing the horns through electronics, loops, and effects. Over the years he has collaborated with improvisers across the jazz and experimental spectrum, including John Medeski, Stanton Moore, and guitarist Nels Cline in the project billed as Nels Cline & Skerik. In New York City he has brought this approach to stages such as Brooklyn Bowl. His performances tend to prioritize texture and rhythmic layering over straight-ahead solo display.
