Rocket From the Crypt is a punk-rooted rock band that began in San Diego as a parallel project to John Reis’s work in Drive Like Jehu, then returned after an initial 1990s–2000s run for periodic activity in the 2010s and beyond. Their shows lean on tight ensemble playing, abrupt rhythmic turns, and a direct, song-first approach rather than extended spectacle. In New York City they’ve appeared on bills at venues including Irving Plaza and Warsaw, alongside acts such as Man or Astroman, Deer Tick, and Brooklyn Guitar Festival lineups.
