Robby Ameen is a New York City–based drummer, composer, bandleader, and educator with Lebanese Druze roots. He is closely associated with the city’s Latin-jazz scene, bringing an Afro-Cuban rhythmic vocabulary to small-group settings. At Smalls Jazz Club he leads the Robby Ameen Quartet, often alongside saxophonist Sam Dillon and the Sam Dillon Quartet. His playing favors precision and forward motion over showmanship, keeping the pulse central to the music.
