Rare Occasions: Singer-Songwriter in New York

About Rare Occasions

Rare Occasions is an indie rock outfit that began in Somerville, Massachusetts, and now operates as a trio led by Brian McLaughlin alongside Jeremy Cohen and Luke Imbusch. After early EP releases in the 2010s, the band’s song “Notion” later found a second life through short-form video platforms, widening their audience beyond the usual circuit. Recent work, including 2024’s *Through Moonshot Eyes*, leans into compact, melody-forward songwriting. In New York City, they bring that direct, hook-first approach to stages like Baby’s All Right, including bills with Girl Tones.
