Preston Rupert: Jazz Musician in New York

About Preston Rupert

Preston Rupert is a New York City jazz musician heard on bandstands like The Django, often leading the Preston Rupert Quartet. His work draws on the repertory-and-rhythm discipline of the club tradition, with tunes stated plainly before opening into extended improvisation. On stage, the group’s interplay reads less like a showcase and more like a working conversation shaped by shared study. Rupert’s playing favors clarity of line and steady time over spectacle.
